About

Let us take you on a musical trip around the world. Our very talented musical director Alex Eichelbaum will be your tour guide as we take you ‘Out of Africa’ to ‘An American in Paris’, stopping over for some Arabian Nights with Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘Scheherazade’ and travelling through a variety of musical styles before returning home to NZ with the lovely ‘Hine e Hine’.
The band will also be joined on stage by the excellent Ad Augusta Headmaster’s Choir from Mount Albert Grammar School.

What is a Concert Band?

A Concert Band is essentially an orchestra without the strings (with one exception – the Double Bass). The instruments include Flutes, Clarinets, Oboes, Bassoons, Trumpets, Trombones, Baritones, Horns, Tubas, Saxophones, Percussion and of course the Double Bass.
The North Shore Concert Band was formed nearly 40 years ago to create opportunities for people in the community to make and perform music together. We have a diverse membership from students to octogenarians, and a number of founding members are still going strong.
We perform around six times per year in a variety of venues, but the musical highlight on our calendar is always our annual concert at The PumpHouse Theatre, which we have been doing for at least twenty years, probably longer.
Our current Musical Director is Alex Eichelbaum.
