About
David Veart trained originally as a lawyer and later went on to teach in New Zealand and the UK. On his return to New Zealand in 1980 he retrained as an archaeologist and worked in that capacity until 2013 for both the NZ Historic Places Trust (Heritage New Zealand) and the Department of Conservation. He worked for DOC for 25 years retiring as Auckland Heritage Manager.
David is a member of the Auckland Council’s Heritage Advisory Panel, a trustee of the Frank Sargeson Trust and the Rangitoto Island Historic Conservation Trust, a committee member of the Devonport Museum.
In 2008 Auckland University Press published David’s history of New Zealand cookery, First Catch Your Weka which went on to become a double finalist in the Montana Book of the Year awards.
David returns to The PumpHouse after his very popular local history talk last year with “History viewed Through The Kitchen Window”.
CREATIVE TALKS
Stories are at the heart of creativity. The PumpHouse Theatre’s series of Creative Talks is an informal early-evening event where local artists and creatives share their stories and ideas with our community whether they have a lifelong passion or are new to the arts.
This programme of free Creative Talks spotlights a wide range of the arts, giving audiences a behind the scenes insight into the world of the creative’s process.
From multicultural arts to theatrical performance, by way of actors, authors, poets and playwrights, there is something for everyone with an interest in the arts and what inspires and drives creativity.
This is a FREE event but seating is limited so please book your place in advance.
