“I’mPaired” by Touch Compass flips the perception of impairment on its head, realising the beauty in everyone’s unique talent. This series of new works use a variety of Dance and Theatre genres that celebrates our diverse society. The work is as inspiring as it is experimental as the Company uses Dance, new technologies and collaborates with a diverse range of artists from other mediums to give the audience a sneak peak at the world through the Touch Compass lens.
Julie Van Rennen’s piece with Yung Chen (a visual artist with Cerebal Palsy) is set to be a highlight as it explores a fusion between creating live visual art with contemporary dance, a visceral mish mash of digital technology, live art, music and performance. Company dancer and dance instagrammer Sierra Diprose will again join forces with Attitude Award winner Alisha McLennan Marler to work on site specific installations by Lake Pupuke to inspire the next generation of dance bloggers. Combining live performance and social media in a new work for a new age of dancer.
The work is a platform for emerging artists and youth performers including Integr8, the company’s new youth hip hop crew. The show also features a new theatre work from Transgender playwright Joanna Pearce.
