About
Kick off your Matariki celebrations with this beginners’ introduction to poi workshop led by tutor, Kendall Fricker.
The perfect workshop for adults who missed out on learning poi at school and great for keeping the old wrist joints flexible!
First you’ll learn how to make a pair of poi which you can take home at the end of the workshop. You’ll then use your beautiful hand-made poi to learn some basic poi moves and have some fun!
About the tutor
Kendall is head of Te Puawaitanga, the Maori Language unit at Birkdale Primary School. She’s also very laid-back, supportive and keen to help people learn.
This is one in a series of workshops presented throughout the year as part of our Toi Takapuna 2018 programme of Maori theatre.
Note: Light refreshments will be served during a short break.
