About
Join tutor Kendall Fricker and members of The PumpHouse Community Choir for a morning of singing, learning and fun!
In this workshop for adults, Kendall will guide participants through the basics of te reo Maori pronunciation before tackling some well known Maori waiata (songs). There’ll be such gems as ‘Tutira Mai Nga Iwi’ as well as the opportunity to get ‘The National Anthem’ off pat in te reo.
No prior knowledge of te reo Maori needed, just a willingness to have a go and a desire to explore this beautiful official language of New Zealand through song … and you don’t need to be a brilliant singer either!
About the tutor
Kendall is an experienced teacher of te reo Maori and is head of Te Puawaitanga, the Maori Language unit at Birkdale Primary School. She’s also very laid-back, supportive and keen to help people learn.
Note: Light refreshments will be served during a short break.
This is one in a series of workshops presented throughout the year as part of our Toi Takapuna 2018 programme of Maori theatre.
