The PumpHouse Theatre is a vibrant, inclusive, artist-led Performing Arts venue, located on the shore of Lake Pupuke in Takapuna, Auckland. Since hosting its first performance in 1977, the theatre space has hosted thousands of productions, workshops, classes and has nurtured generations of local artists and audiences.
It has three distinct performance spaces, available for both daytime and evening hire. We welcome all genres of the Performing Arts, including plays, musicals, dance, comedy, music, magic, poetry, burlesque, circus and opera. When you hire with us, we can also offer ticketing, front of house, advertising and technical support.

Designed specifically for smaller events, play readings or storytelling the Coal Bunker Studio is a lower cost option for new work or studio productions.
Each stage is unique in size and capacity, and so the cost of hiring will differ. As a registered charity, we have competitive community rates and we aim to be affordable to all artists whether amateur or professional. You can find pricing details on our Resources and Reference page
To hire a space at The PumpHouse Theatre you’ll need to complete our booking form, pay a deposit and sign the terms and conditions of hire.
